Candy cane nails and a new watch
“You will never find time for anything. If you want time, you must make it.” ― Charles Buxton
As some of you may know/have noticed, I love interesting watches. There's my signature lego watch which I had to find again after being known as the "lego watch girl" for many years (x). Theres a cat one (x), a clear one (x), and even my simple watch (x) I consider interesting since it belonged to my grandfather! So when I had a look at the watches from Born Pretty I got pretty excited. They have a great range of interesting women's watches, and eventually I settled on a cool map faced one. As much as I love white leather it is normally something I steer away from due to the dirty factor. But at such an affordable price I figured this was great since I can easily get a replacement (or try a new style).
nails - OPI liquid sand in 'Solitaire', and Butter London in 'Chancer' map watch c/o Born Pretty
Today I also decided to get festive when doing my nails and take inspiration from one of my favourite Christmas things; the candy cane.
I started with a red nail polish for the base (I used ‘Chancer‘ by Butter London) and waited for it to dry well. Next I cut up little strips of sellotape and placed them over the nails at an angle where I wanted the red strips to be (making sure they a stuck down well with no bubbles).
Then I painted the white polish over the top (I used ‘Solitaire’ by OPI).
After waiting for this to dry (if it hasn’t dried properly it can smudge everywhere!) you then peel off the tape.
A clean up with a polish remover soaked cotton bud is then required (I find it impossible to keep nail polish just on the nail) and you’re done!
I think this would look equally as cool with a gold and white or green and red; basically what ever festive colours you have! Pretty simple but a very cool effect! I did them while watching Captain America again so maybe I was slightly influenced by that too haha.
I really love the watch, and I've already had people complimenting me on it which is always a good sign I'm not the only one. I was also impressed with the quality which turned out to really great, especially considering this one is only $5.99 (USD)! If you need (or want) a new watch you're sure to find one you like on Born Pretty. They were even nice enough to offer a 10% discount for our readers if you use the coupon code TARAMC10 :)
