Thrifting with Ellen - Vintage Makeup Case

Last week I went on a little adventure to my local antique store, The Royal Oak Traders, with my friend Alex. This place definitely ranks high on my list of favourite places to shop. Walking along the street you might be put off by the amount of random chairs and end tables spilling out of the door. The inside isn't much different. Second hand objects are stacked into tight aisles with antique cabinets and vanities stuffed full of even more things. I start sneezing all over the place as my allergies kick in and my inner organisation nerd really just wants to tidy the place up. Yet at the same time, the chaos of the store is all part of it's charm.

Hours are lost inside Royal Oak Traders and every aisle must be scanned at least three times (or as many times as you can take). However, it is always worth it in the end. On my last trip I picked up some amazing silver trays for this DIY video. This time Alex and I struck gold again with this beautiful vintage makeup case. The leather case is lined with a cream material, with little pockets around the side and a mirror under the lid. It even has a working lock and key!

Over the past few weeks I've been putting together a cheeky little room decor and organisation video and after several trips to The Warehouse and Mitre 10 I still couldn't find any storage containers I fancied. I found some old tea crates at the Royal Oak Traders I was planning to purchase before I found this beauty. At the moment it's sitting on my desk holding all my hair products and  I think it's such a unique to store bits and bobs. It makes for a fun decor piece too! Stay tuned to see it in action in a room decor video coming up in the next few weeks on our youtube channel  :D
