Tea and things ♥

It is believed that the idea of afternoon tea originated in France in the 17th century

where tea became hugely popular.

By the 18th century, the popularity of tea had spread through out Britain

and was on sale in more than 500 coffee houses in London.

During the industrial revolution, families would return to their homes completely exhausted after the day of working. The table would be set with a huge array of fantastic foods to full the belly, along with tea for everyone. It was termed 'High' tea because it was eaten at high tables rather than low tea tables.

Over the years, high tea has evolved into a dainty affair, the various meats and breads have been replaced by finger sandwiches and pastries.

I had the pleasure of attending a high tea to celebrate Katelyn's (aka 'death by fashion') birthday. We dusted of the family pearls and gleefully sipped from beautiful china tea cups all afternoon, a truly fabulous affair.
