The final touches...
"We had to decide: Do we want to do Saturday Night or go to our Senior Prom? We opted for Saturday Night Live."
- Mary-Kate Olsen
Every year parents spend hundreds, and sometimes thousands of dollars on their children's high school ball.
From suits to dresses, shoes, make-up and hair, High school balls or proms have become very elaborate affairs.
Formal dances have been around since the early 1800's but it wasn't till after the great depression and WW1 in American did proms and balls start to become what they are to teenagers today.
These once simple events where you wore your 'Sunday dress' have transformed over time into extremely extravagant nights of glam.
Although here in New Zealand, we don't all quite throw 'Proms' like the Americans, my high school ball has been all anyone has been talking about at school recently.
So I wanted to share some little snaps of my ball outfit with you all..
1. Details of my shoes
2. My second hand vintage pearls
3. Unlike most people, i decided on flats for ball. These gorgeous babies are from forever new (got them on sale down from $80 to $25!).
4. Rings also from forever new
5. The sewing pattern for my ball dress
6. My ball ticket and rings
For those of you who have been following my blog for awhile now, you will know my mums been busy sewing my dress! With only a few more finishing touches till its done, ill happily be going to ball next week knowing that no one else will have the same dress as mine ;)
