Miss Scarlett, in the ballroom, with the revolver...

 Mr Green - "Who would want to kill the cook?"
Miss Scarlett - "Dinner wasn't that bad"

I recently attended a 1940's Cluedo (or Clue in america) themed ball.

It was a very fun night,
with LT Funk playing great music
that made even me get up and shake up the dance floor,

added to that great food (at the ball Denny's post ball for desert),
made the night an all round good time.

The 1940s is probably one of my favourite decades,
however it was sort of hard to dress for a ball for a decade famous for war.

So scarlett became my colour of choice,
firstly from the 40s bold lip look
and secondly as inspired by Miss Scarlett herself...

I frequented vintagemakeup.com when first planning my look,
on the night a hair curler disaster meant I had to do my hair retro style;

making pin curls
with dampened hair,
blow-drying it,
using lots of hairspray,
with a pinch of luck
to bring it all together

Some pin curls, bling,  and false eyelash enhanced eyeliner wings,
I was ready to solve a mystery!
or perhaps cause one?...

I kid, I kid.

\I chose to wear butter's Henley Regatta for the occasion,
just to add a pop of another colour,

it strayed from the 40s style of matching everything
from nails to lipstick to dress,
but i couldn't resist ;P

A glittery dose of colour
that seemed to change shade everywhere i went.

All together fun night, fun people,

but perhaps my favourite part
was dressing up for the occasion.

what's your favourite part of a ball or party?
